Breeding conditions:

Arctic Foxes were not recorded, while a track of Wolf was seen on river bank in September. First migrating Reindeers appeared on 15 August; while later they were recorded not daily in small (3-6 animals) flocks, which indicated low intensity of migration. Arctic Hares occurred at a density 3.3 animal/10 km of transect in sparse larch forest, but they also inhabited riverine ravines in high numbers. Nests of Rough-legged Buzzards were not found in a 5 km-wide range. Snowy Owl was seen on the river island on 20 August. Nest of Gyrfalcon with 2 large chicks was found on light-house 2 km from the camp in mid July. Paws of juvenile Arctic Hares were found near nest, and we observed hunting of adult Gyrfalcon on a juvenile grouse in August. Gyrfalcon chicks left the nest on 1 August. Long-tailed Skuas were rare. A nest of Raven with 4 downy chicks was found on a light-house on 22 May (reported by M.Y. Karbainov). Eurasian Golden Plovers were common in sparse larch forest and in shrub-sedge-moss tundra. Up to 14 Herring Gulls, 3-4 Glaucous Gulls and 4 Ravens were staying in the camp vicinity, but most Herring Gulls departed eastward by 12 September.
A majority passerine birds moved from forest to riverine willow stands in late August, when migration of Lapland Buntings have also started. A migration of geese upstream the river (southwestward) was observed in early September, while Long-tailed Ducks, in contrats, migrated downstream (northeastward). Noteworthy an observation of 2 Siberian Jays and 2 juvenile White-winged Crossbills on 11 August in larch sparse forest.

Rodent dynamics:

Rodents were not recorded in the period of surveys from 16 July to 15 September, and they were also absent in the first half of summer according to report of local resident.
